Grace Over Shame - A letter for the woman who’s been too hard on herself

There was a season of my life where I lived mostly in bed.

Unable to move.

Unable to speak.

Unable to be the mom or wife I thought I was supposed to be.

And even though I knew — logically — that my sickness wasn’t my fault…

Shame still found a way in.

Shame whispered:

“You should be doing more.”

“Your family deserves better.”

“This isn’t what strong women look like.”

But here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:

Shame grows in silence.

Grace grows in truth.

Motherhood didn’t look the way I dreamed.

Marriage didn’t look the way I imagined.

My body didn’t cooperate with my plans.

And yet…

Love still lived here.

God still stayed.

My family still chose me.

Sometimes grace doesn’t look like healing right away.

Sometimes it looks like staying.

Being held.

Being reminded you are still worthy — even when you’re not productive, presentable, or powerful.

If today you’re carrying shame for a life season you didn’t choose…

Let this be your permission slip to put it down.

You are not behind.

You are not failing.

You are not weak.

You are human.

You are loved.

And grace is still enough here.

With hope & love always,

Nicole
