A Hope Letter
Hey Mama,
If you feel behind in life, I want you to pause right
here.
I know that feeling.
The one where you scroll and it seems like
everyone else is ahead.
Ahead in their career.
Ahead in their healing.
Ahead in their marriage.
Ahead in motherhood.
And somehow… you feel behind.
Behind the timeline.
Behind the dream.
Behind who you thought you would be by now.
When you feel behind in life, it can feel isolating
-like you missed a memo everyone else
received.
But what if you’re not behind at all?
What if you were surviving?
What if you were healing in places no one could see?
What if the season that looks like delay is
actually deep foundation work?
What It Really Means When You Feel
Behind in Life
Because here’s what I’ve learned in my own
journey through chronic illness, rebuilding, and
motherhood:
You can’t rush restoration.
There were seasons where my only goal was to
getting through the day.
Seasons where my nervous system was fried.
Seasons where I lost jobs, confidence, and
pieces of identity I thought defined me.
And in those moments, it absolutely felt like
everyone else was sprinting ahead while I was
crawling.
But crawling is still forward.
When you feel behind in life, you’re often
comparing your private struggle to someone
else’s public highlight reel.
You are not behind because your timeline looks
different.
You are not behind because your healing took
longer.
You are not behind because motherhood
humbled you.
You are becoming.
Becoming softer.
Becoming stronger.
Becoming more aware.
Becoming grounded in what actually matters.
There is a quiet strength that forms in the
woman who has had to rebuild.
And that strength doesn’t come from hustle.
It comes from surrender.
From resilience.
From choosing to show up again after
disappointment.
From choosing hope when comparison whispers
shame.
If you feel behind in life right now, I want you to hear
this clearly:
You are not late.
You are not failing.
You are not missing it.
You are in the middle of becoming.
And becoming is rarely loud.
It often looks like:
Rest when you wanted to push.
Saying no when you used to overextend.
Starting again when you swore you were done.
Choosing steady over flashy.
Your timeline does not define your worth.
Your pace does not disqualify your purpose.
And your season of rebuilding is not proof that you’ve fallen behind.
It is proof that you are still in the story.
Mama, if all you did this year was survive
something hard - that counts.
If all you did was keep loving your family while
quietly fighting battles no one saw - that counts.
If you are rebuilding your health, your confidence,
your finances, or your faith - that counts.
You may feel behind in life.
But you are being built.
And foundation seasons are sacred.
You don’t have to sprint.
You just have to keep going.
Keep Moving Forward.
Grace over shame. Heal gently. Live fully!
Love and Hope Always,
Nicole
