I’m a boy Mom to our sweet miracle boy, Ty. We waited 17 years for our amazing boy, and he was absolutely worth the wait!

I’ve been married to my best friend, Corey for 20+ years! He is my champion and my everything! My hope in the middle of living in survival mode.

I’m learning how to practically love myself. 💗

And weirdly enough, it’s looked a lot less profound than I thought it would.

At 40, I’m learning that loving myself can look like…

1. Getting the haircut I actually want. ✂️
Not the one I think I should have. The one that makes me feel like me.

2. Buying the makeup I wanted… and then taking it off when my body said NOPE. 💄😂
I wanted to feel pretty, so I let myself try.

MCAS: “That’s adorable. Take it off.” 😅

Turns out, listening to my body was loving myself too.

3. Picking the pink toothbrush AND the pink toothpaste. 💗🪥
Because apparently I’m allowed to like things just because I like them. WHO KNEW?! 😂

4. Letting myself want things.
Without immediately deciding they’re unnecessary, frivolous, or that someone else deserves them more.

5. Giving myself grace on the 20% days.
Sometimes my 100% looks more like 20 or 30%… and I’m learning that those aren’t the days I deserve less love. They’re probably the days I need it most.

Maybe learning to love yourself isn’t one giant breakthrough.

Maybe it’s a hundred tiny choices that say:

“I matter, too.” 💗

So that’s the new trick I’m learning at 40. 🌹

And apparently Ty’s new trick is becoming one with a cardboard box. 📦😂

You’ve been calling it “the truth” about yourself. But what if it’s just something you learned to believe? 👀

Learning to Love Yourself 💗 | Lesson 1

Who says that?

I’ve started realizing how many things I say about myself as if they’re facts.

I’m too much.
I’m not doing enough.
I should be further along.
I should look different.
I should handle this better.

But… who says that?

Learning to love yourself doesn’t mean you suddenly adore every part of yourself or never want to grow.

Sometimes it simply means getting curious about the voice in your head before agreeing with everything it says.

Where did I learn that?
Is it actually true?
Would I say this to someone I love?

Maybe self-love starts there.

Not with convincing yourself you’re perfect…

but with refusing to keep treating yourself like someone you’re responsible for defeating. 💗

Today I hugged the woman who got me here. 🤍

If I had the chance to sit with her today...

I wouldn't tell her to try harder.
I wouldn't tell her to hurry up and heal.
I would simply wrap my arms around her and whisper...

"You make it."
"One day you'll laugh again."
"One day you'll dance in your kitchen."
"One day you'll have the energy to chase your little boy."

"One day you'll look in the mirror and see hope instead of fear."

She didn't know it then, but every hard day was shaping the woman I am today.

I'm grateful for every doctor who listened.
Every prayer that carried me.
Every friend who reminded me not to give up.
And every small choice that helped me rebuild.

And yes... Primal Queen has become one of those choices. Not because it magically fixed everything, but because it's been one small part of helping me nourish the body that fought so hard for me.

So today, I'm not mourning who I used to be.
I'm hugging her.

Because...

She deserved to know she was always worth loving... and always worth fighting for.
Maybe you need to hear that today, too.
You are worth loving. You are worth fighting for, Mama.

If today you're surviving more than thriving, don't lose heart.

You're not becoming someone worthy.
You're nurturing the good that has always been within you... until it blooms. 🌿🤍

Sometimes rebuilding means accepting help.

Not because you've failed. Not because you're weak. Not because you aren't working hard enough.

Sometimes it simply means you're human.

We've had seasons where we've been able to give generously, and seasons where we've needed others to help carry us for a little while.

Both are part of life.

If you're in an in-between season right now, let this be your reminder: there is no shame in doing what is necessary to care for your family.

Look for the helpers.
You'll find them. 🤍
